FIRST YEAR STAFF

Overview

All first year staff will participate in first year specific programming. We have hired two experienced staff members to work with our First Year's along with our other leaders, to provide support and encourage growth.  We have a suggested CIT program fee of $800. This fee helps us to cover some of the costs of our program and also reflects the value of the First Year Staff program. Some of the program benefits they receive, but other staff do not, are:
- Pre-Summer events and gatherings with First Year Staff
- 10 biblical and spiritual sessions that help lay the foundation for a solid faith
- small group hands-on practical job training
- 1 on 1 coaching with Bible Lesson writing
- 1 on 1 mentoring throughout the entire summer

Some other benefits include:

- the 5 weeks during the summer that they are at camp (4 on staff and 1 training)
- the 3 weekend retreats throughout the year they can attend
- the staff members hired to work directly with them

If the program fee is a concern or a potential obstacle, we encourage you to apply anyways and there is financial aid available to those who may need it.

If you have any questions please contact Zack at the camp or at zack@conestogabiblecamp.org

WHAT DO FIRST YEAR STAFF DO?

CIT
Of the almost 100 counsellors at day camp each year, approximately one quarter are first-year counsellors, known as counsellors-in-training, or CIT's. CIT's will be selected  for one of the summer months of day camp - roughly July (session 1 & 2) or August (session 3 & 4) -and spend that time as cohort learning and working together. They will live at camp from Sunday evening to Friday evening of each week they are at camp as they learn to be counsellors: working with children, growing in camp skills and in their faith.

Lifeguard, Kitchen, Maintenance
First year staff can also apply to work during the camp day as a lifeguard, in the kitchen, or on the maintenance team. They will provide support to the camp day in these areas instead of working directly with the campers in a counselling role.

STAFF APPLICATION
First Year Staff fee may be adjusted or removed based on age and experience of applicant. (ex. working at a summer camp, lifeguard qualifications, kitchen certification)
