Each summer, young people of good character and active faith serve as missionaries at CBC. Many of them are former campers. They spend every day of each session sharing lessons, playing games, leading worship, and hanging out with campers. They agree to live and teach according to our Statement of Faith. Counsellors are also involved with maintenance of camp facilities, preparation for the camp day, as well as Bible studies and discipleship activities to foster spiritual growth.
The application period for Day Camp and Youth Camp staff is opens in December and runs until January 31!
What DO CIT's (First-year counsellors) Do?
Of the almost 100 counsellors at day camp each year, approximately one quarter are first-year counsellors, known as counsellors-in-training, or CITs.
CITs will be selected for one of the summer months of day camp - roughly July (session 1 & 2) or August (session 3 & 4) -and spend that time as cohort learning and working together. They will live at camp from Sunday evening to Friday evening of each week they are at camp as they learn to be counsellors: working with children, growing in camp skills and in their faith.
CITs will spend every day with campers. During the evenings they will participate in counsellor specific programming. We have hired two CIT Directors to work with our CITs, along with our other leaders, to provide support and encourage growth. Because of this program update, we have a CIT program fee of $400.
If you have any questions about these changes please contact Terry at the camp or on his cell.
HOW DO I APPLY?
The application period for Day Camp staff is open until January 31st. We understand the transition from Camper to Counsellor is tough, so we will have a parent/applicant drop-in question period at Woodside Bible Fellowship on Saturday, January 12, from 10am to 12 Noon. If you have any questions or want to meet the Admin Team & Pastoral Team before you apply, please plan to come out!
All CIT applicants will also have an interview in February, on the Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday following Family Day. This is included in the application.
CITs are expected to:
