WHAT DO CIT'S (FIRST-YEAR COUNSELLORS) DO?
Of the almost 100 counsellors at day camp each year, approximately one quarter are first-year counsellors, known as counsellors-in-training, or CITs.
CITs will be selected for one of the summer months of day camp - roughly July (session 1 & 2) or August (session 3 & 4) -and spend that time as cohort learning and working together. They will live at camp from Sunday evening to Friday evening of each week they are at camp as they learn to be counsellors: working with children, growing in camp skills and in their faith.
CITs will spend every day with campers. During the evenings they will participate in counsellor specific programming. We have hired two CIT Directors to work with our CITs, along with our other leaders, to provide support and encourage growth. We have a suggested CIT program fee of $850. This fee helps us to cover some of the costs for:
- the 5 weeks (4 counselling and 1 training) during the summer that they are at camp
- the 3 weekend retreats throughout the year they can attend
- the staff members hired to work directly with them
If the program fee is a concern or a potential obstacle, we encourage you to apply anyways and there is financial aid available to those who may need it.
If you have any questions please contact Zack at the camp or at email@example.com
