Is Jesus your Joy? This is a question I have had to ask myself lately, over and over. If you don't know me, I am almost always busy, and have lots going on. This is not always a good thing. This grade twelve year has been no different, lots of new things, lots of school, work, bible studies, and meetings. I have been so distracted with all these things, and for a while this year I kinda lost my joy.
Hey all you wonderful people! It’s that time again; a blog from your counsellor! You get the opportunity to have a look into our lives and hopefully learn a thing or two from it. And boy o boy has my life been busy. Chunky Monkey’s year has been exciting...
Hey Campers, Mater here!
Guess What! Only 141 days until the first day of Session 1! Preparation has already begun to make Summer ‘17 the best yet! As you can probably tell, I can not wait until Camp starts and my jorts can make a comeback! But, in the meantime I have been tasked with this edition of the CBC Counsellor Blog. To keep with last summer's theme, my “Truth of the Day” is, Jesus is always there. Before you being reading, take a moment and answer this question.
“What defines me?” What we define ourselves by plays a critical role in who we grow up to be. It not only shapes the way we approach day-to- day events, but also the way we look at the future. Definition provides expectation and expectation shapes our goals. Knowing what you want to do with your life is a good thing. Having something that gives you an achievement to strive for it also good. But, at what point does what we’re defined by get in the way of our perspective? How can our expectations cloud what is possible and what is not? Both expectation and perspective are critical in looking at who we are and who we want to become. So really think about it, “What defines me.” Hey there Campers!!
I hope you have been having an AWESOME school year so far!! I don’t know about you guys, but I am missing camp like CRAZY!!! Before I get started, I gotta ask you a question. Have you ever been lost before? I remember this one time, my family and I were at Disney and my sister and I got lost. I was really scared because Disney’s pretty big and I didn’t know if I would be able to find my parents. Luckily, my dad found my sister and I and all was well :) But, sometimes I get lost in a different kind of way. I get lost in spirit. Hey guys!
It’s Chihuahua here, hopefully you guys are having some fun right now even though you, and I are in school. I hope you’re enjoying this snowy weather. I have a truth of the day for you guys, one that I’ve been learning the last 2 months or so and that is: Jesus is a best friend. Hey guys!
It’s me, Barbie, here to provide you a little bit of insight into my life outside of camp. Which I miss a LOT, by the way! Something I’ve been noticing a lot lately is how God is everywhere you look. That’s why my new truth of the day is : Jesus is Present! Hey guys, this is BugSpray talkin’ at ya!
If you’re like me, then you miss camp a bunch! For a lot of us, camp is what is called a “mountain top experience”, or a “spiritual high”, or, as C.S. Lewis calls it, a “peak period”. All of those metaphors convey an experience that as a Christian we will all have at different points in our lives. These are times when we feel especially close to God, times when we can easily hear him speak to us and everything feels great. Unfortunately these periods don’t always last. Eventually God allows us periods where it is harder to choose to follow him. I think this is a way God shows us what our faith in him is really made of. It’s easy to have faith in God when everything is going well, but when things get hard, that is when our faith is shown to be strong. |
